Esmail Baqaei Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemned the U.S. military aggression against areas in Bandar Abbas carried out in the early hours of Thursday May 28 stressing that these aggressive actions against Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty constitute a blatant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. He emphasized that the United Nations Security Council is duty-bound to fulfill its legal responsibility by holding the American aggressors accountable.

Esmail Baqaei, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, strongly condemned the U.S. military aggression against areas in Bandar Abbas carried out in the early hours of Thursday, May 28, stressing that these aggressive actions against Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty constitute a blatant violation of international law and the Charter of the United Nations. He emphasized that the United Nations Security Council is duty-bound to fulfill its legal responsibility by holding the American aggressors accountable.

Referring to the United States’ continued violations of the April 8 ceasefire, particularly attacks against commercial shipping in the Persian Gulf and international waters, as well as aerial assaults on southern parts of Iran over the past few days, the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson underscored the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to adopt all necessary measures to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson also condemned the threatening rhetoric of American officials against Iran and several other countries in the region and, while expressing solidarity with the friendly and brotherly Sultanate of Oman, stated that threatening the “destruction” of a United Nations member state — a country that has consistently played a constructive, effective, and responsible role in maintaining regional peace and security and has, for many years, employed its diplomatic mediation efforts and good offices in the service of regional peace and stability — is not only a violation of the fundamental principle prohibiting the threat or use of force, but also another dangerous sign of the normalization of lawlessness and bullying in international relations.
