Iranian Japanese Foreign Ministers hold phone conversation

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi held a phone conversation at noon on Thursday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi held a phone conversation at noon on Thursday.

During the phone conversation, the two sides exchanged views on Tehran-Tokyo bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

The Iranian Foreign Minister elaborated on Iran’s positions and views regarding the situation in the region, stressing that the continued insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf region is solely the result of the United States’ aggressive and interventionist actions, and that the only way to restore security is to stop the US’s illegal activities.

Araghchi also explained the good offices by some mediators to advance the diplomatic process, stressing the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to defend its interests.

The Japanese Foreign Minister, for his part, elaborated on Japan’s views regarding matters of common interest.
