Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Afghanistan hold telephone conversation

During this telephone conversation, the two sides examined various dimensions of bilateral relations, including the positive trajectory of cooperation between the two countries in economic, trade, and border areas, and stressed their shared determination to strengthen ties across all fields of mutual interest.

 

The Afghan Foreign Minister expressed solidarity with and wished success and prosperity for the Iranian government and people in the face of threats, stating clearly: Afghanistan remains committed to its obligations under existing agreements between the two countries, and will not withhold any necessary assistance or cooperation to support the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

Amir Khan Muttaqi also provided a briefing on recent border developments between Afghanistan and Pakistan, announcing that tensions between Kabul and Islamabad have fortunately decreased noticeably in recent days, and that the situation along the two countries’ borders is moving toward stability and relative calm.

 

Iran’s Foreign Minister, outlining regional developments and the various consequences of the US and Israeli regime’s military aggression against Iran, emphasized the need for Islamic countries to remain vigilant against the expansionism and divisiveness of the Israeli regime in the region.

 

During the call, Araghchi thanked Afghanistan for its recent cooperation regarding the 1972 treaty between the two countries on the Helmand River water rights, as well as Afghanistan’s cooperation on the Harirud River. He expressed appreciation for this positive and good-faith action and for Afghanistan’s assistance in facilitating the movement of Iranian nationals during the third imposed war. He described the stances of the Afghan people and authorities in support of the Iranian people and government as encouraging and valuable.

 

Iran’s Foreign Minister, while expressing gratitude for Afghanistan’s solidarity and support for Iran in the face of the brutal onslaught by the Israeli regime and the US against Iran, stated his satisfaction over the reduction of tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. He declared the Islamic Republic of Iran’s readiness to provide any assistance to help resolve differences and strengthen peace between the two neighboring Muslim countries.
