Iranian Foreign Ministry statement condemning the Israeli regime’s crimes against Palestinians

On the eve of the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, expressing deep disgust and grave concern over the continuation of the Israeli regime’s crimes against the Palestinian people, particularly genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza and the West Bank, underscores the responsibility of the international community to take serious and decisive action to stop the genocide of Palestinians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also strongly condemns the shameless desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the violation of the sanctity of Al-Buraq by the prime minister of the Israeli regime.

The occupying Israeli regime, which over the past three years, with comprehensive arms, financial, political and media support from the United States and some countries claiming to uphold human rights, has committed one of the largest genocides in the history of the world in Gaza, has simultaneously resorted to the most heinous methods, including the systematic and widespread killing and torture of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, to advance the sinister plan of the “colonial erasure of Palestine.”

The hostage-taking of Palestinian women and children, whose number has exceeded 10,000, and their torture in horrific prisons, which has resulted in the martyrdom of dozens of them and the amputation and disability of hundreds of others, undoubtedly constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The fact that, on average, at least three Palestinian detainees are martyred under torture every month is not only evidence of the apartheid and colonial nature of the Israeli regime, but also indicative of the hypocrisy and moral decay of the regime’s supporters, who remain indifferent to the blatant violations of human rights and international humanitarian law by the occupying regime.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, while strongly condemning the crimes of the Israeli regime in Gaza and the West Bank, stresses that the immunity granted to this regime by the United States, including through the intimidation and sanctioning of judges of international courts and activists and human rights rapporteurs advocating for the Palestinian people, must in no way obstruct the pursuit of justice and freedom for Palestine or the demand for the prosecution and punishment of Israeli criminals.

The Israeli regime’s occupation, terrorism, lawlessness and unprecedented crimes in occupied Palestine, as well as its aggressions and crimes against the countries of the region over the past eight decades, have undoubtedly inflicted the most severe blows on the credibility and standing of the United Nations and international law. The fact that the Israeli regime ranks at the top among violators of United Nations resolutions, and that the greatest number of Security Council vetoes have been cast with the aim of preventing action against Israel’s lawlessness and crimes, is in itself indicative of the role of this regime in eroding the credibility and standing of the United Nations.

Now that the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly has rightly been dedicated to the theme of “Restoring Trust” among countries in the Organization, it is the duty of every responsible state to place support for the rights of the Palestinian people, particularly their right to self-determination, and assistance in freeing them from 80 years of occupation, apartheid and colonialism, at the forefront of its agenda as an international legal obligation and a moral and humanitarian mission. Achieving this requires immediate action to stop the genocide of Palestinians
and prevent the expansion of occupation and the seizure of Palestinian land, deliver humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, and hold the perpetrators accountable and punish the criminals.
