Karbala Governor meets Iran’s Foreign Minister

Karbala Governor Nasif Jassim Al-Khattabi met on Sunday evening with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who is visiting Iraq on an official trip.

During the meeting, the Governor welcomed the Iranian Foreign Minister and his accompanying delegation, extended his condolences over the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, a number of Iranian officials, and many Iranian citizens during the military aggression carried out by the Israeli regime and the United States against Iran. He also praised the Iranian nation's resilience and steadfastness in the face of the brutal U.S.-Israeli assault.

Expressing appreciation for the Islamic Republic of Iran's decision to make arrangements for the funeral procession of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution to be held in Iraq, the Governor of Karbala announced the full readiness of the province's authorities and local institutions to ensure the proper hosting of pilgrims and mourners participating in the funeral ceremonies.

The Iranian Foreign Minister thanked the Iraqi government and the Governor of Karbala for their commitment to organizing the funeral ceremonies for the martyred Leader at the holy shrines in Iraq, expressing confidence that this historic event would bring abundant blessings to the Islamic Ummah, particularly to the great nations of Iraq and Iran.

The two sides also exchanged views on the organization of the funeral ceremonies and the logistical arrangements, facilities, and capacities required for the event. It was agreed that the necessary coordination would continue through the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad and Iran's Consulates General in Karbala and Najaf.
