Statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the US military aggression against Iran and Iran’s defensive response
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns the aggressive actions taken by the United States against our beloved homeland on Tuesday night September 1 and reaffirms the Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to firmly defend Iran’s independence national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The US regime, having been driven to desperation in the face of the Iranian people’s ironclad resolve to defend the country, once again violated Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity on Tuesday night, September 1, 2026, by attacking several civilian areas and service infrastructure, including a number of telecommunications towers and sites in the provinces of Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Hormozgan, and Kerman. As a result, a number of our compatriots were martyred or wounded, and damage was inflicted on public and private property.
In the attack by the American enemy on a wedding celebration in Kuhestak, located in Sirik County, Hormozgan Province, more than 70 of our compatriots were martyred or wounded, most of them women and children.
These brutal war crimes, which constitute a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles of international law, are reminiscent of previous American-Zionist crimes over the past year and a half, including those in Minab and Lamerd.
In response to the US military aggression, the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, pursuant to their inherent right of self-defense, launched defensive and devastating strikes against US military bases that had served as the launching points for and provided support to the US military aggression against Iran.
The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly calls on the countries of the region to prevent the continuation and expansion of the flames of war in the region by denying the American aggressors the use of their facilities and territory to prepare for and carry out acts of aggression against Iran, and not to allow the sinister US-Zionist plot to impose permanent insecurity on the region to be realized.
While expressing its condolences over the martyrdom of our dear compatriots, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reminds all governments of their responsibility to pursue, prosecute, and punish the perpetrators and those who ordered grave violations of international humanitarian law.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again reminds the United Nations, particularly the Security Council and the UN Secretary-General, of their responsibility to fulfill their duties in accordance with the UN Charter.
The silence and inaction of the organs of the United Nations in the face of the continued violation of the fundamental principles and rules of the Charter, particularly Article 2(4), by a permanent member of the Security Council will further undermine the credibility of the Organization and pose an increasing threat to international peace and security.
