Bassem Naim, a member of the Political Bureau and head of the Arab and Islamic Relations Office of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, who has traveled to Tehran for consultations with Iranian officials, met with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday afternoon.

During the meeting, Naim conveyed warm greetings from Khalil al-Hayya, the newly appointed head of Hamas’ Political Bureau, to Araghchi. He also reiterated the condolences of Hamas leaders and the Palestinian people over the martyrdom of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khamenei, as well as a number of Iranian commanders, figures and citizens. He paid tribute to Iran’s martyred leader for his role in defending the sacred cause of the liberation of Palestine and Al-Quds.

The Hamas Political Bureau member also briefed Araghchi on the latest developments in Palestine, including the continued “brutal crimes” by the Israeli regime in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, the Judaization of Al-Quds, and the brutal torture of Palestinians in prisons run by the occupying regime.
Naim said the approach of the Israeli regime’s “criminal prime minister” was to continue fomenting war, committing genocide against Palestinians and forcibly displacing the Palestinian people by maintaining the inhumane policy of imposing a blockade and preventing humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip.

He called for serious and immediate action by the international community, particularly Islamic countries, to confront Israeli aggression and crimes against the Palestinian people and support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.

Araghchi, for his part, thanked Hamas leadership for sending messages of condolence and sympathy and expressing solidarity with the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people. He stressed Iran’s principled and firm position on continuing comprehensive defense of the country against aggressors, as well as supporting the sacred cause of the liberation of Palestine and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital.

The Iranian foreign minister also stressed that the Islamic Republic would continue its efforts to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in international forums, including meetings of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS, as well as the upcoming session of the United Nations General Assembly.
