Mostafa Tarfī the newly appointed Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Basra met with Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi prior to his departure for his new post and presented a report on his area of responsibility and the existing capacities along with his proposed plan.

During the meeting, the Foreign Minister, referring to the very good relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq as two neighboring and Muslim countries, stressed the need to further deepen bilateral relations in the political, economic, social and cultural spheres and to make optimal use of Iraq’s capacities, given the many commonalities between the two countries.
