Iranian Foreign Ministry Statement on US terrorist Army’s attack on Iranian vessels and Iran’s defensive response

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the aggressive attack by the US terrorist army on several Iranian oil tankers on Tuesday evening September 8.

The US military aggression against Iranian commercial vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, as a continuation of the US military aggression, maritime blockade and economic war by the US regime against Iran, constitutes a blatant violation of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.

The US aggressive actions against Iranian commercial vessels not only constitute a dangerous escalation of tensions in the region, but also represent an overt threat to regional and international peace and security.

In response to the US aggressive actions against Iranian oil tankers, the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in accordance with their inherent right of self-defense, carried out defensive strikes against US bases and military facilities located in Jordan, which continue to support US military aggression against Iran, as well as against several US aggressive vessels.

Emphasizing its determination to defend Iran’s sovereignty and national interests against US aggressive actions, the Islamic Republic of Iran stresses that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond decisively and appropriately to any military aggression by the enemy in exercising their inherent right of self-defense.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also once again emphasizes the responsibility of the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General to take immediate action in response to the blatant violation of international peace and security caused by the US aggressive actions against Iran.
