Ms. Mahdieh Esfandiari meets with Foreign Minister Araghchi

Ms. Mahdieh Esfandiari an Iranian citizen who returned to the Islamic homeland after fourteen months of captivity in France on charges of opposing genocide in Gaza and supporting the oppressed people of Palestine met with Seyed Abbas Araghchi the Minister of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday evening.

Ms. Mahdieh Esfandiari, an Iranian citizen who returned to the Islamic homeland after fourteen months of captivity in France on charges of opposing genocide in Gaza and supporting the oppressed people of Palestine, met with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday evening.

 

During this meeting, Ms. Esfandiari recounted the events of the past two years and expressed her gratitude for the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Minister himself in securing her release from prison and facilitating her return to the homeland. She also thanked the Consular and Iranian Affairs Department and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Paris for their assistance and support over the past 14 months.

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his happiness over Ms. Esfandiari's release and return to the country, praised her moral courage in supporting the oppressed people of Palestine and her high spirits during her detention, and emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers the protection of the rights of Iranian nationals around the world as its inherent duty and will spare no effort in this regard.

 

During the meeting, Vahid Jalalzadeh, the Deputy for Consular, Parliamentary, and Iranian Affairs, provided explanations regarding the process of Ms. Esfandiari's case in Paris and the measures taken to protect her rights during her detention, judicial proceedings, and thereafter.

 

It is worth noting that Ms. Mahdieh Esfandiari was arrested approximately 14 months ago by French security agencies for posting content on social media opposing the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and spent several months in prison.
