Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday night held a phone conversation during which they discussed the latest Palestinian developments as well as crimes committed by Israeli occupiers against Palestinian people in Gaza.
In the phone talks, Amirabdollahian categorically condemned the Israeli regime’s war crimes and the tightening of the blockade on residents of Gaza, stressing the need for Islamic and Arab countries to support Palestinian people.
“The perpetuation and expansion of war crimes in Gaza as well as the blockade on, and the targeting of residential places, hospitals and schools, and the cutting off of water and electricity supplies to the enclave are examples of mass punishment and systematic crime against humanity,” said the Iranian foreign minister.
He emphasized that the continuation of the current state will further complicate the situation and, naturally, the Israeli regime will be responsible for the consequences and repercussions of that.
The top Iranian diplomat touched upon the high number of Palestinians martyred or wounded in Israeli forces’ indiscriminate attacks on Gaza, calling for an immediate meeting of foreign ministers of member states of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC).
The UAE foreign minister, in turn, stressed the necessity of acting in unison to support people and civilians in Gaza, adding it is necessary that the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) discharge their responsibilities in supporting the people of Gaza and creating safe passages to evacuate the wounded.
The top Emirati diplomat also referred to Iran’s call for holding a foreign ministerial meeting of the OIC, adding the issue will be discussed with other Arab countries.
