Giorgos Gerapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, held a telephone conversation with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The two sides discussed and exchanged views on the consequences of the imposed war by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.
The Greek Foreign Minister expressed grave concern over the repercussions of the war, particularly its security and economic dimensions, and voiced hope that peace and stability would return to the region as swiftly as possible.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, elaborating on the crimes committed by the United States and the Israeli regime during the 30 days of military aggression against Iran, reminded all countries of their responsibility to condemn the illegal attacks and gross violations of international humanitarian law. He emphasized that indifference toward the lawlessness and terrorist acts of the United States and the Israeli regime leads to the decline of the international normative and ethical system, and its consequences will affect all countries.
The Foreign Minister noted: “The insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz is a direct consequence of the US and Israeli military aggression against Iran. Based on the established principles of international law, and with the aim of preventing aggressors and their partners from exploiting this waterway to advance their illegal and aggressive objectives against Iran, the Islamic Republic of Iran has adopted a set of measures to, while preventing the passage of hostile vessels, manage the safe transit of other vessels in coordination with the competent Iranian military-security authorities.”
The Foreign Minister also reminded countries of their legal obligation under international law to prevent aggressor parties from using their territory and facilities to design, support, and carry out aggressive operations against other states. He stated: “The US and Israeli military attacks against Iran constitute a grave violation of Article 4 of the UN Charter and are a clear instance of military aggression against a UN member state. All countries are obliged, in accordance with their international legal duties, to condemn this aggression and refrain from any form of complicity or cooperation with the aggressors.”
Araghchi underscored the continuation of Iran’s defensive operations against the aggressors and the bases of aggression against Iran, including their military installations and facilities located in the territory of regional countries. He also warned against the plot by the United States and the Israeli regime to expand the scope of war by compelling other states to collude and participate in military aggression or to carry out false-flag operations against third
