Araghchi expressed appreciation for the Sultanate of Oman's message of sympathy and for the participation of the country's parliament speaker in the ceremony honoring the martyred leader of the Islamic Revolution. He also reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Oman.
The Omani foreign minister reiterated his country's principled position in favor of diplomacy as the means to prevent further escalation in the region and expressed hope that the full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States would contribute to improving regional security.
During the meeting, the Iranian and Omani foreign ministers discussed bilateral Tehran-Muscat relations across various fields, as well as regional developments, particularly the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.
Araghchi and Albusaidi also exchanged views on appropriate mechanisms for ensuring the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, in accordance with Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
