Iran, Turkmenistan FMs hold phone conversation

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Reshid Meredov has congratulated Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan in a telephone conversation during which the two top diplomats discussed some international and bilateral issues of mutual interest, especially the need to boost cooperation among littoral states of the Caspian Sea.

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Reshid Meredov has congratulated Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan in a telephone conversation during which the two top diplomats discussed some international and bilateral issues of mutual interest, especially the need to boost cooperation among littoral states of the Caspian Sea.
The Turkmen foreign minister referred to the progress made at the expert level in preparing drafts of cooperation in the Caspian Sea region, scientific fields, search and rescue operations and fighting the spreading of narcotics in the Caspian Sea region as well as deepening cooperation among regional countries. Meredov proposed that a meeting of the foreign ministers of the five Caspian Sea countries be held with the aim of expanding multilateral cooperation and paving the way for a summit of the leaders of the countries.
Amir Abdollahian also spoke about continued expansion of friendly and progressing ties between Iran and Turkmenistan. The Iranian foreign minister underlined Iran’s pessimistic view about the development of these relations in all areas, especially increased cooperation among the Caspian Sea littoral states.
The Iranian foreign minister added that the Islamic Republic of Iran always welcomes regional cooperation and working meetings to further expand ties, especially in the Caspian Sea region.
At the end of the conversation, Amir Abdollahian congratulated his Turkmen counterpart on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan and wished the month will be full of blessings for the country’s government and people.
