Foreign Ministers of Iran and China Hold Telephone Conversation

..

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, held a telephone conversation during which they discussed and exchanged views on regional developments and the consequences of the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.

The Chinese Foreign Minister, while emphasizing his country's principled position in condemning the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, offered condolences on the martyrdom of Ali Larijani, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He described Larijani as an intelligent, distinguished, and patriotic figure who played a prominent role in ensuring Iran's national security and interests, as well as regional peace and stability.

Iran's Foreign Minister, elaborating on the aggressions and atrocities committed by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran as the primary cause of the current situation in the region, emphasized Iran's firm resolve to continue defending its national sovereignty and territorial integrity until all objectives are achieved and the enemy is made to regret committing this brutal aggression.

Iran's Foreign Minister stated that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is inseparable from the general conditions prevailing in the region, adding that the insecurity imposed on the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz stems from the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran. He noted that the measures and arrangements taken by Iran are in accordance with international law, aimed at defending Iran's sovereignty and national security, and intended to prevent aggressors from exploiting this waterway to commit aggressive acts against Iran.

Araghchi, referring to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to American and Zionist vessels, as well as other parties involved in the military aggression against Iran, stated that the passage of vessels belonging to other countries is coordinated with the competent Iranian authorities.

Iran's Foreign Minister strongly condemned the movements by the United States and some other countries in the Security Council aimed at exerting pressure on Iran, and asserted: Instead of fulfilling its duty to safeguard international peace and security, the Security Council has ignored the main cause of the current situation—namely the aggression of the United States and the Israeli regime—and, rather than condemning and holding the aggressors accountable, it reproaches Iran, which is exercising its right to self-defense.

Araghchi added that Iran's serious expectation from the member states of the Security Council, particularly China and Russia, is that by adopting a firm stance in condemning the aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime, they prevent the continued exploitation of the Security Council by the United States.

The Chinese Foreign Minister once again underscored his country's principled position in condemning the illegal attack by the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran and the violation of Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Referring to the strong bilateral relations, he stated that Beijing emphasizes the necessity of halting bullying behavior in the international arena and respecting diplomacy and international law for the resolution of disputes.
