Iranian Malaysian Foreign Ministers discuss regional developments in phone call

..

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, held a telephone conversation and exchanged views on regional developments, particularly the economic consequences of the aggressive war waged by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran.

Iran’s Foreign Minister detailed the atrocities committed by the American and Zionist aggressors against the Iranian people, including attacks on schools, hospitals, and residential areas. He emphasized Iran’s resolve to decisively defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, stating: “Iran will defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity with all its might.”

The Iranian minister further asserted: “Iran is committed to maintaining friendly relations based on good neighborliness with all countries in the region. However, the use by the United States and the Zionist regime of military bases, facilities, and logistical support located in the territory of these countries for military aggression against Iran has left Iran with no option but to resort to defensive measures within the framework of its inherent right to self-defense.”

Araghchi added: “The legitimate, moral, and Islamic demand of the Iranian people from the regional countries is that they prevent the continued exploitation of their territory and resources by the United States and the Zionist regime for brutal aggression against a neighboring Islamic country.”

Referring to the repercussions of the US and Zionist military aggression on the economy, security, and stability of the region, as well as the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, Araghchi stated: “The insecurity imposed on the Strait of Hormuz is a direct result of the US and Zionist military aggression. In order to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, the Islamic Republic of Iran has adopted a set of measures in this waterway in accordance with international law.”

Araghchi noted: “The Strait of Hormuz is closed to vessels belonging to or associated with the United States and the Zionist regime, as well as any other party that participates in or assists their military aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, other vessels can transit through this waterway after coordinating with Iran’s competent authorities to ensure safe passage.”

The Malaysian Foreign Minister, emphasizing Malaysia’s principled position in condemning the aggressive actions of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, stressed the need to reduce tensions and restore stability and security to the region.

He also expressed condolences, sympathy, and solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran over the martyrdom of a number of Iranian citizens in the US and Israeli military aggression, and underscored the importance and necessity of safeguarding lasting stability and security in the region.
