Iranian parliament members meet FM Araghchi to review foreign policy UNGA trip
As part of the ongoing consultations between the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the diplomatic apparatus on various foreign policy issues a meeting was held on Tuesday evening with the participation of Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and a number of members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.

During the three-hour meeting, attended by Ali Babaei Karnamei, Chairman of the Social Affairs Commission, and a number of respected members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, the Foreign Minister presented a comprehensive report on the discussions and activities undertaken during the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s visit to New York to attend the 81st annual session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Referring to his and the President’s numerous consultations with various countries participating in the UN General Assembly, the Foreign Minister stressed that the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran, backed by the heroic resistance and steadfastness of the Iranian people in the face of the military aggression of its enemies, articulated Iran’s positions in the clearest and most authoritative manner possible.
The Foreign Minister also referred to the use of the opportunity provided by the UN General Assembly session to explain Iran’s innovative approach and present a seven-day plan for restoring security to the Strait of Hormuz. He stressed that, based on instructions issued by the competent authorities of the country, the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran presented Iran’s conditions and considerations to the mediators in the form of a precise and operational plan. It became clear to all that, just as the Islamic Republic of Iran is resolute and determined in defending itself, it is also serious about using the tools of diplomacy to safeguard its national interests and security.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister also responded to questions and discussed the proposals and views of the members of Parliament, providing explanations on a wide range of foreign policy and national security issues, including economic diplomacy, neutralizing sanctions, relations with neighboring countries, strengthening public and media diplomacy, documenting war crimes committed by the United States and the Israeli regime, and pursuing the demand for justice and retribution for the martyrs of the Second and Third Imposed Wars.
The members of Parliament expressed their appreciation for the efforts and initiatives of the diplomatic apparatus in safeguarding national interests and the rights of the Iranian people, and stressed the need for continued collective efforts to preserve national unity and cohesion, as well as simultaneous support for both the field and diplomacy in defense of Iran’s sovereignty and integrity.
