Start of all-rail transit of Kazakhstan's first container train via Iran
All-rail transit of Kazakhstan's first container train from the Iranian corridor began with the issuance of an order by the Presidents of Iran and Kazakhstan via video conference.
During the visit of Kazakh President Mr Tokayev to Iran on Sunday afternoon, the two Presidents ordered the all-rail transit of Kazakhstan's first container train via Iran in a ceremony that was held through a video conference with the Tehran Railway Station.
The train arrived in Tehran from Kazakhstan yesterday with 24 wagons carrying 48 containers, and after today's ceremony, it started its journey to Turkey from the Iranian part of the east-west corridor.
At the ceremony, the Railway Cooperation Agreement between the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Railways of the Republic of Kazakhstan was signed by the CEOs of the Railways of the two countries.
